

The Thewinelove winery is located in Fuenmayor, between the Ebro River Groves and Monte San Llorente, in the heart of Upper Rioja, where it has a vineyard planted on calcareous clay soil. There we will find Teresa and Fernando pruning in the cold winter, clearing the sprouts in the summer and eliminating grapes in August, leaving only the best fruit on the vine. Methodical and perfectionists, they love this conscientious work that fills them with satisfaction. Orgullo was created at the College of Oenology at the University of La Rioja, whose students work with them every year, under the direction of Professor Belén Ayestarán. The vineyard fills with white robes, and new production ideas arise, as do others gathered on trips throughout the sumptuous world of wine. Once the grape is collected and taken to the experimental winery, everything is tested and evaluated, resulting in a whirlwind of creativity fed by each new class of young oenologists. Orgullo Tinto is produced from the Tempranillo variety. All grapes come from the La Tejera vineyard, which was planted 35 years ago. It covers 4.5 Ha of calcareous clay soil, located between the Ebro river groves and Monte San Llorente, near Fuenmayor. No chemical fertilizers are used in its cultivation, and irrigation is only used in years of extreme drought. Fermentation takes place in open tanks, manually working the cap on a daily basis. In order to maintain the primary aromas characteristic of the variety, and to provide more complex aromas, part of the wine is subjected to vintage in new darkly toasted French oak barrels for three months, performing the coupage afterwards with wine not subjected to vintage. It has a bright red-cherry, violet color. In the nose you notice hints of fresh fruit, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, violets, caramelized tones, and smoky, granite mineral tones. It has full, very mature tannins that leave a pleasant sensation in the mouth. Backed by the natural tartness of the wine, they balance out the sweet hints of alcohol. It has a harmonious, suggestive passage through the mouth that encourages you to have a second glass. Serving temperature between 12º and 14º C.
